Teacher, artist, philosopher. Organiser of several thousand exhibitions and theatre premieres during the Edinburgh International Festival. Creator of the Demarco Archives, a unique collection of photographs and artworks documenting the history of encounters between the avant-garde of Western and Eastern Europe from the 1960s until the fall of communism. In 2013 he was awarded the European Citizen Prize by the European Parliament.
